One of many Metro Stations along 14th Street, this is the newest and it has an elevator!

The MTA offers one of the fastest and convenient systems in the US - having this infrastructure enabled congestion pricing to begin in 2025, bringing in approx $500M per year that supports transit repair and expansion.

This station is the eastern end of the First Avenue stop. The L train crosses all of 14th Street in Manhattan and goes across Brooklyn, all the way to Canarsie - Rockaway Queens. 14th Street became a Busway to accommodate more riders while repairs to the L Train were underway. This became a  long term success,  and 14th Street remains one of the fastest crosstown streets for buses and bikes. Today,  more boroughs want busways to encourage fewer motor vehicles and more climate-smart mobility.

Groups including the Riders Alliance are working for better mobility for all. Recent transit access wins are also leading to more elevators, faster repairs and better notification of outages, too. Fast and free buses? TBD!

A historic and multi-cultural community, the Lower East Side is known for its resiliency, creativity and community spirit. Hard hit by the Pandemic of 2020, diverse participants from many backgrounds have come together to help meet urgent needs and plan for the future of this frontline community.
