We are a Charity and Limited compnay who run a secondhand shop and Skip scheme on Unst, most northerly island in Shetland. We were set up in 2000 to encourage employment and development, tourism and inward migration to our island. We lost 2 major employers in 10 years from 1995 when Chevron Oil pulled out of their helicopter to oilrig operation and 2005 when the RAF Saxavord radar base closed. The island population went from 1200 to 600 in those ten years and has stayed roughly the same since then. It is now starting to increase with the creation of a new spaceport at the north of the island.
