Kyle & Lochalsh Community Trust is committed to instigating and delivering social, economic, and environmental regeneration projects and local services. We are fully focused on improving the quality of life for the residents of Lochalsh and we aim to achieve the sustainable regeneration of our community. We work to generate income through enterprise and the ownership of assets. As a not-for-profit organisation, all our trading surpluses are reinvested in the fragile Highlands community. We own the Plock - an area of Community Parkland from which we deliver Green Prescription activities including Health walks, and a Ranger service with volunteering opportunities. We run the Public Toilets/ showers and Community Pontoons in Kyle on behalf of the community, providing a leaderette facility for locals & visitors. In 2018 it set up and leads a group called Lochalsh Collaboration to develop a project to consult the community of Lochalsh. It is attended by representatives of the 7 community councils, and 3 community trusts in Lochalsh. Amongst our community’s priorities were the need to make our community more sustainable, including increasing promoting and supporting local food growing, reducing waste, setting up an electric community transport scheme, continuing our community fridge which distributes waste food from supermarkets, setting up a reuse shop, building affordable, low emission housing and promoting local purchasing.
