This garden was created as a Food Bank Growers garden in April 2024, on the grounds of the Fairwinds Winery and Farm.

~6000 square feet (60x100)

This garden's production focus is on perennials (berries and greens), some annual veggies, and are evolving our winter growing capability to help feed our community year round.  It is based on regenerative agriculture principles including keeping roots in the ground, mulching, composting, planting for pollinators and more.  We build our own compost by accepting food scraps from the community and heavily utilizing our own plant matter and use wood chips, straw, grass and cut plant matter for mulch.

We are relatively unsheltered and must factor in wind conditions and plant our own shade.  We have a drip irrigation system installed to minimize water waste as well as four 50 gallon barrels for water catchment from the roofs of our shed and wash station.

We believe everyone should have access to highly nutritious food and are passionate about producing as much as we can including some non-traditional foods like Gooseberry and Sorrel.  We work hard and have fun and welcome anyone to join us!
