Rosewind Community Garden

From the beginnings, almost 20 years ago, RoseWind Cohousing’s envisioned site plan showed a large community garden area in the big central field.

When there were only a few families on site, some wanted to get the garden going. We fenced an area and allotted “P-patch” plots to those with the time and energy to farm them. More and more families moved on site and adopted plots. With ten different plots, it became common sense to share work and watering and become more unified, and many individuals did so. Then, with unified garden areas producing well, other members joined in, and found it useful to have a garden manager. We’ve had many very successful years with a garden manager, and now there are about 12 households that are gardening collectively. There is enough garden space that those who want to work a plot of their own may also still do so.

We're growing a healthy future as students learn how to plant, cook, and create food related businesses. http://www.jccwp.org
