With three screens exclusively showing specialised cinema, Glasgow Film Theatre is Glasgow’s centre for film-lovers. Built in 1939, originally called the Cosmo, GFT is a time-capsule of Art Déco architecture & an era when Glaswegians attended the cinema an average of one time per week. At the same time, through renovations & refurbishment, GFT is today a thoroughly modern venue.
A not-for-profit educational charity, Glasgow Film also encompasses two annual festivals, Glasgow Film Festival & Glasgow Youth Film Festival.
Address - just off Sauchiehall Street at 12 Rose Street Glasgow G3 6RB
GFT provides an independent-film programme with an emphasis on serving the community of Glasgow & Scotland at large, including specific audience-development initiatives to bolster cultural diversity, to serve Deaf & hard-of-hearing audiences, & to provide accessible cinema to socially- &/or economically-disadvantaged audiences.
They even have audience-specific icons on their What's On section (A = Autism friendly, C = Captioned, D = Dementia friendly).
