A light was first established on this island in 1869 and looks over Concepion Bay in the Biobio region of Chile. The lighthouse is referred to as Isla Queriquina in the order book of Chance Brothers of Smethwick near Birmingham in 1905. Looking at recent photographs it appears the original Chance lens has now been removed from the lighthouse. The island is only accesible by boat and has a Chilean Navy Base.
