City Solar is an energy help center that designs services for solar and wind powered areas. It's located in Park Slope, Brooklyn, but offers a helping hand to anyone nearby. As stated on the City Solar Mission's web page, " we are focused on creating environmentally sustainable renewable alternative energy in public and private spaces." The main goal of City Solar is to help provide and inspire energy conservation in public areas. To help out, you can make donations or apply for a membership account online at www.citysolar.org. City Solar's projects include providing renewable alternative energy to the Green Community Garden in Park Slope and the 6BC Botanical Garden in the Lower East Side. Their other services include designing and installing sun panels, solar heat and rainwater harvesting systems. Tracy Fitz, the energy behind City Solar is a real pioneer and wonderful instructor, as well.

Featuring climate smart energy choices and energy efficiency projects all across NYC! We were originally inspired to map energy in NYC by the Great Northeast Blackout of 2003, and published our first printed map on the topic in 2006. A continually evolving process, this new Open Green Map includes the best of the sites as of 2013. Want to help us add more to it?  Click Suggest a Site at the top!
