North Beach Community Garden

The NBCG is around 30 years old this year and has served the surrounding community well. In a typical year, 6-8 families work together in the garden, preparing beds, planting and harvesting organic produce for their families.

We follow a three-year crop rotation, except for blueberry/raspberry bushes, to help prevent soil-borne diseases from building up in the soil and prevent depletion of valuable soil nutrients. We plant using no-till principles and practice regenerative gardening.

Surplus produce is given to the PT Food Bank, and occasionally, neighbors. We also grow plants from seed and sell them (at cost) to the North Beach Community. The NBCG has always been an educational program for learning science-based agricultural processes.

We're growing a healthy future as students learn how to plant, cook, and create food related businesses. http://www.jccwp.org
