Highland Power for Highland People. This is the vision of a renewables energy community benefit society. It aims to greatly increase community participation and ownership of renewable energy projects being developed across the region. We aim to reduce and ultimately eradicate fuel poverty in the Highlands by providing access to affordable renewable electricity.

After hearing about the cost of living crisis where the Highlands were producing large quantities of renewable energy but had some of the highest fuel bills in the UK and one of the highest rates of fuel poverty in Europe. Caithness produces 18 times more electricity than it uses and over the winter 2022/23 the local charity was having to hand out blanket in Caithness to people who couldn't afford their heating costs.
