This project planned and created an 850,000-litre sediment treatment pond to benefit the Rescobie and Balgavies Loch Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI). The new pond slows water flow draining from arable fields during heavy rainfall events, allowing fine sediment to settle out rather than being carried into the waters of the SSSI, which affects water quality and damages habitats.
