Nature-based solution category: river restoration

This EU LIFE+ river restoration project, completed in 2010, aimed to improve habitat for freshwater pearl mussel, Atlantic salmon and trout. Works included re-profiling sections of riverbank in the upper catchment and removing 900 metres of bank protection from the River South Esk and the White Water, helping to restore more natural river habitats.
