For over 30 years, Lorn Toy Library has been supporting families across Oban, Lorn and the Isles with a focus on sustainable parenting. They offer a wide range of second-hand baby equipment, quality toys, early learning resources, and welcoming play sessions for local families.
Their baby sling library is run by a friendly team of trained volunteer peer supporters. They help parents find the right sling for both their body and their baby as they grow—encouraging borrowing over buying, reducing waste, and creating space to share experiences and advice.
With ABCAN seed funding, Lorn Toy Library took part in Oban Collective’s Pre-Loved event last year and promoted toy hire in the run-up to Christmas, offering a different narrative to buying more for everyone. By focusing on reuse and community sharing, they’ve been able to raise awareness among parents and carers about simple, climate-positive actions that support children’s needs—often saving money along the way.
