Callander and Climate Change: A subgroup of the Callander Community Development Trust. In 2009 and 2011, we successfully applied for Climate Challenge Fund grants and these helped bring about whole range of projects from work on improving home insulation, which brought about a 502 tonne reduction in the community's carbon footprint, to film nights and festivals, including a 'Bike-tastic' event at the primary school to raise awareness. A 10% reduction in journeys to school by car was also achieved in 2011/12 and a community orchard and raised beds for vegetable growing at the youth project have engaged people practically in local food.

The Trust (originally called Callander 2000 & Beyond) is a membership group, set up by Callander Community Council and others to raise funds and take forward projects to benefit Callander. The trust’s directors are all local residents and either represent one of the other community organisations or are individuals with a range of relevant skills and interests. They are all volunteers, interested in making Callander an even better place to live in or visit.

They have been responsible for projects such as setting up Creative in Callander and the annual events Summerfest and Winterfest. The Trust owns the company that built the Community Hydro Scheme at Loch Lubnaig and distributes money donated by the scheme through the Community Hydro Fund. Membership is open to anyone living in the Callander Community Council area and is free of charge.

The CCDT Board of individual Member Directors is elected each year at the AGM. In addition, other organisations are represented on the Board.

The Board meets once a month to review progress and discuss new initiatives. Visitors are also invited to attend meetings to describe specific projects and areas of potential interest.
