The Hearty Squirrel is a volunteer-run, not-for-profit food cooperative at the University of Edinburgh. We strive to provide local, organic and affordable food to students and staff, as well as a unique and informative experience for our volunteers. Cooperatives are an alternative to the profit-driven model of most major supermarkets. Our goals also include educating on and promoting food sustainability at the university, creating a strong community of co-op members, and supporting other student groups and external organisations that align with our social and environmental values
